Today is also Ground hog day….. a holiday celebrated in the United States and Canada on February 2. From Wikipedia:
If a groundhog (also known as a woodchuck or marmot, emerges from its burrow on this day and fails to see its shadow because the weather is cloudy, winter will soon end. If on the other hand, it is sunny and the groundhog sees its shadow, the groundhog will supposedly retreat into its burrow, and winter will continue for 6 more weeks.
Will he see his shadow today? I am ready for blue skies!
Thanks for stopping by and visiting my blog ……
Gorgeous blue skies... Now you got me singing that song: blue skies, nothin but blue skies....
ReplyDeletePlease do not see your shadow! Please do not see your shadow! Please do not see your shadow! Maybe if we tell him that enough he will listen.
ReplyDeleteLovely blue skies, but I do not want him to see his shadow tomorrow. LOL! I am ready for SPRING!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog!
Hi, Susan! Those are some mighty beautiful blue skies! And that is one cute groundhog! I'm ready for the chill to decrease. It's cold here again tonight.
ReplyDeleteHappy Blue Monday!
XO,
Sheila :-)
Hello Susan, Lovely blue skies and cute groundhog. I am also ready for spring so I hope he does not see his shadow tomorrow :-), Kathy
ReplyDeleteHello Susan; I love all the beautiful photos of the sky and clouds. I am looking for blue skies and warm days too...
ReplyDeleteHugs;

Your blue sky photos are so pretty. I always thought Groundhog Day was a fun idea, even if it is silly. I have a friend who makes the drive to Punxsutawney every year. There is no way that I would stand outside in the cold, so I get the Phil's prediction via the TV.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan...I hope we'll get good news! You know General Beauregard Lee out at Stone Mountain has a very high success rate in predicting correctly...so we'll know soon! Have a great week...Debbie
ReplyDeleteHi Susan!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me today is Groundhogs Day...I forgot (even thought it falls the day before my birthday...shhh!)
Beautiful pics of the sky. Did you take them!!
Wonderful post for Blue Monday!! :-)

ReplyDeleteOh Phil! Please don't see your shadow! I am soooo over this winter. Your blue skies are so pretty! Happy Blue Monday! ~ Robyn
ReplyDeleteWow! Have you considered playing Sky Watch Friday?
ReplyDeleteOh so lovely!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blue skies. I'm hoping for all those that have had to deal with a most challenging winter, that Phil doesn't see his shadow. My winter is very mild, so if he sees a shadow, it just means cool temps, not snow :0)
ReplyDeleteThose photos of lovely blue skies makes me long for spring.
ReplyDeleteThose are the most beautiful blue skies! I sure hope he doesn't see his shadow! ♥ Diane
ReplyDeleteThose pretty pictures could qualify for both Blue Monday and Skywatch Friday :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blue skies and beautiful photography, Susan!...Christine
ReplyDeleteI used to live about 30 miles from Punxsutawney, home of Punxsutawney Phil. I never did go there for Ground Hog Day Celebration. I didn't relish the thought of getting up at predawn to stand in the freezing cold.
ReplyDeleteBlue is one of my favorite colours.

ReplyDeleteAnd everyone is sure hoping for spring sooner than later so that ole groundhog better not see his shadow today or everyone is going to be mad at him!! ;O)

ReplyDeleteHe saw his shadow so we can look forward to 6 more weeks of winter. It will give us all time to get our indoor projects completed before the nice weather. ;)
I am so ready for the blue of sunfilled skies..unfortunately I believe he saw his shadow...alas...6 more weeks of winter...sigh!
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping for lots of blue skies and that Spring is just around the corner!
ReplyDeleteMy dear ... if you are ready for blue skies, consider the high desert of Central Oregon. Over 300 days of sunshine each year! Very low humidity and few insects. Well, maybe a bobcat or two lurking about .........
ReplyDeleteGood morning Susan. Your cloud and sky shots are just breathtaking! I'm so sorry "Phil" saw his shadow this morning! Have a wonderful Monday!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the glorious blue skies. May your ground hog day be a happy one.

What absolutely gorgeous blue skies! Reminds me of "back home" in Texas, although we have some nice blue-sky days here in Virginia from time to time, too. But now I guess we all have to get ready for 6 more weeks of winter (darn groundhog!). Happy Blue Monday!
ReplyDeleteAwesome Blue Skies Susan! My husband is totally in awe of taking pics of blue skies. We drove around the backroads of GA one entire afternoon snapping pics of the different clouds and sky... Very serene...and for the groundhog, I think I saw on someone elses post that he saw his shadow! ;( drats! My iris plants are already peeking out. ~CC Catherine ;)
