2/24 Three or More Tuesday

ThreeOrMoreTuesdayLogo Tam at The Gypsy’s Corner is the hostess for “Three or More Tuesday” (clicking on the logo on the right will take you to her site)

Today I am sharing “three or more” Aunts and Uncles!

Growing up, I had no aunts or uncles (both my parents were only children). I was thrilled when I married my husband and found out my husband’s father was one of seven children and his mom was one of eleven children (wow)!

Here is a picture of my mother-in-law with her siblings (picture taken in the 1970s)….

and a picture of my father-in-law with his siblings (not sure when this was taken)….

So, I went from NO Aunts or Uncles…to MANY….and lots of cousins…… and family reunions (once or twice a year) are wonderful….FULL of kind and caring family members!

Thanks for visiting my blog. Visit Tam at The Gypsy’s Corner. for more Three or More Tuesday participants.

Reminder: Wednesday is “Outdoor Wednesday”! (Post will be up by 11:00 pm EST on Tuesday night) Learn More about Outdoor Wednesday visit HERE.

  2. Guess what? Growing up, I had no cousins either, except for just 1, but I don't really count him because I haven't seen him since I was a little girl and I don't really know him. I too married into a big family with lots of aunts, uncles and cousins!! Thanks for sharing the pictures of your lovely family.

  3. Instant family! How wonderful for you to finally experience what you were missing. My mom is also an only child but my dad is the oldest of 8 and I grew up with some of my aunts and uncles. I can't imagine my childhood without our big Sunday dinners at Grandma's. I love your blog and plan to participate in your Outdoor Wednesday event this week. Have a great day!

  6. What a great post! I love big family reunions. Mom's family was small, but dad'd family is HUGE! We didn't get to see them often after we moved to the great white north, but we spent every summer back in Mississippi with cousins, aunts, uncles, people who weren't related but should have been, dogs, cows, you get the picture! What fun. Kathy

  15. I'm from a huge family and reunions were a big event. Now, it's kind of gone by the wayside and for that I'm sad. I've lost touch with so many family members.

    Hugs,

  16. How wonderful that you not only love the man, but his family as well!

I think it's a pretty unique situation to have no aunts and uncles. I can imagine how happy you were to marry into such a large family.

  21. What neat old photos! My mom is the baby of 11 !!!! So I grew up with TONS of Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Now you have a bunch yourself! I love family reunions. Now that mom is 73 we have not had one in years. The remaining siblings still get together for a dinner once a year though.

  22. I can't imagine NOT having a big family! I have 5 brothers and sisters and there are 8 kids in Tim's family. My father had 5 brothers & sisters, my mother's family had 6 kids but my grandmother lost 2 of them at birth. I probably have 60 cousins :) Great pictures Susan! Happy Tuesday ♥

  32. How cool is that? I always hoped the w/ my being an only child, I wouldn't marry an only child, because I always wanted nieces & nephews.

  33. Awww...you ended up with all of the aunts and uncles you could ever hope for! :-) I don't come from a large family either, and always thought it would be fun to have lots of aunts, uncles and cousins too. :-)

  34. Hi Susan! Just wanted to come by and say "Hi". Your one of the one's that I'm having trouble with leaving a comment. I can't leave you one when I'm at home on my computer, but up here at work I can. Now, explain that to me! Something must not be set right on my computer, but I'm not smart enough to know what it is? Love your family pictures. I am an only child, myself. But, I have two sons and they have aunts, uncles, and cousins from my husband's side.

  35. How fun that you "inherited" such a nice large family when you married. I love seeing the photos of everyone together!

  36. Susan, that sounds so similar to my situation. My mother was an only child, and my father's sister died before I knew her. My husband's father had 11 siblings, and his mother had 6 siblings! These photographs of your husband's family are wonderful. I don't think my husband's aunts and uncles ever got together after they left home. laurie
