Pink Saturday

I have enjoyed following everyone’s entries in previous Pink Saturdays, so I thought I might join in on the fun!

Today I am sharing Pink Needlework!

My favorite are these two pink roses done in needlepoint by my maternal grandmother. On the back, is written her name, 1938 (date they completed) and Cumberland, Maryland (where they were living at the time). Aren’t they GORGEOUS!

She passed along to me her love for needlework (although I haven’t done much the last few years). Here are a couple that I have done…..

    Beautiful needlework! I have done a needlepoint chair cushion canvas and know all the hours of work that go into these pieces! I wanted to do one for each of my 6 dining chairs but don't think it is going to happen at the rate I am going!!

    What beautiful needlework! How wonderful that you have kept those two in the family. I have done a little needlework myself, and it makes me so sad when I see other's work in a thrift store (probably because I'm sure that's what my children will do with mine!). That last one you did of the vase of flowers looks like a painting. So pretty. laurie

    Lovely needlework. My Grandma was a needlepointer, tatter, knitter and crocheter. I like to think I got my love for needlework from her too! Although, as my eyes have gotten older, cross-stich, my first handiwork love, has gotten harder! I took up knitting this year and it is easier on the eyes!

    you have really lovelly things here and truly from a great grandmother. my granny used to have soup bowls with handles too. but i did not gt those dishes when she passed on alas! they were china from enland too! nice blog and happy new year.....

    How LUCKY you are to have those amazing needleworks created by your grandmother! I have very little from one grandmother, but the one thing I have is an old shelf scarf she made to "tack" around the rough shelf that held their clock. It is made from a rough cloth---probably a feed sack--and she crocheted a sweet little trim around it. I certainly need to have it framed--your framed works inspire me to that!
