I am going to share a few photos from around town on Memorial Day….. we need to teach our children and grandchildren that it isn’t a day for shopping or picnicking…. the day should be about the warriors that lost their lives and gave the ultimate sacrifice.

ReplyDeleteWe always take the grands to my MIL's grave and they usually make an arrangement out of flowers from my craft room. They really like going.

Love Memorial Day post. I thought of using mine, but didn't. Can we have two entries?
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for always being the gracious hostess!
Hi Susan,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you completely about teaching the real reason for the holiday. I can't tell you how often I thought about all of the people having cookouts yesterday and not even thinking about those you gave their lives so we could be free. Great post!
Amen, I second exactly what you have said!
ReplyDeletehi Susan, Thank you for such posting your Memorial Day tribute to our service men and women, past and present. On a personal note it brings memories of my Daddy and my husbands Dad, both served in WW11.
ReplyDeleteThanks as always for hosting.

Good post! It is crucial that we teach the younger (and even our) generation the importance of Memorial Day.
ReplyDeleteSusan, thank you for sharing these images. I agree, we need to focus on the meaning of this holiday so each new generation learns to appreciate the sacrifice that was made to insure the freedoms we enjoy. ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteHi Susan
ReplyDeleteYour town's tribute is beautiful! My post honors the sacrifice of the Civil War Veterans buried in a local historic cemetery...both Union and Confederate.
Hugs, Pat
It's true the holiday isn't just for cookouts but to remember..
ReplyDeleteThank you Susan for hosting the Outdoor Wednesday, but due to our time difference, when i open it in the morning i am already always at the tail end of the list, hahaha! It's good you post this type of awareness posts and photos, or else the young generation will be reminded of the sacrifices of their ancestors.
ReplyDeleteI never tire of seeing streets draped in red, white, and blue.

ReplyDeleteThose picnics with family and friends might just have been the last thoughts of those who died.

Love the Memorial Day tribute. We always attend our Memorial Day ceremonies and parades. I want our 4-yr. old son to understand the significance and sacrifice - and not think of it as, "just a day off."
