Welcome to “Outdoor Wednesday”

Outdoor Wednesday logoToday is the FIRST “Outdoor Wednesday”. What is “Outdoor Wednesday”?

Every Wednesday participants will be posting pictures of anything outdoor on their blog. It can be something outside of your home such as your porch, deck, patio, garden or lawn. Your photo can be outdoor shots of the beach, forest or mountains. (We don’t want to exclude anyone who might not have a yard). Or, you could simply post pictures of a favorite plant or flower. Only rule is it has to be outside!

To participate:

1. POST- Post your outdoor photos and the “Outdoor Wednesday” logo/button on your blog and link back to A Southern Daydreamer so that others will be able to find all the links to other “Outdoor Wednesday” posts.

2. (Optional) PLACE LOGO - Place the “Outdoor Wednesday” logo/button on the sidebar of your blog. It lets others know you will be participating in future Outdoor Wednesdays.

Reminder: Do NOT link in until after your post is up.

3. LINK NAME & PERMALINK- Go to A Southern Daydreamer and enter your name and the Permalink to your post (NOT your general blog address) in “Mr.... Linky”.

  • Why use a permalink instead of your general blog address? A permalink points to a specific blog post after it has passed from the front page to the archives. It will make it easier for readers to find your Outdoor Wednesday posts whenever they get a chance to visit.
  • To create a Permalink: Either 1) right click on Outdoor Wednesday post and “Copy Shortcut/Link Location” or 2) click on your Outdoor Wednesday post title and copy the URL from the http window.
  • Copy your permalink into “Mr.... Linky” URL box next to your name and select ENTER. You are finished. You should see your name listed on my site.

I have been amazed and inspired by all the photos of the interiors of so many of your homes. I am looking forward to seeing the outside areas as well as photos from other outdoor places, especially with spring just around the corner.

1/13 Tablescape Tuesday

Tablescape Tuesday LogoToday is Tablescape Tuesday, hosted by Susan and her blog Between Naps on the Porch. Let’s go into the kitchen and find a place to sit down …….

I wanted to use Mr. Rooster as the centerpiece……so I grabbed a platter and placed Mr. Rooster on it and then found Mrs. Chicken… and even added a few eggs (mainly so I could see Mr. Southern Daydreamer roll his eyes, lol)

The rooster salad plates continue the rooster theme. I found these at Hobby Lobby.

Under the salad plate is the napkin (looks like it needs a little ironing)……

The dinner plate and platter used in the centerpiece are Bordallo Pinheiro. I have picked up a few pieces here and there (Marshalls and Roses). I really like the texture of the dishes.

Blue Monday

bluemonday Today is Blue Monday hosted by Sally at Smiling Sally. Don’t forget to visit her site to see links to more participants!

Today I am going to share the BLUE SKIES of some oil paintings in my home that are very special. (I’ll tell you why after I share some photos of them with you)

First, Paul Revere’s statue and the Old North Church in Boston, Massachusetts….. where my parents were married… (probably my favorite painting… the place holds many fond memories for me….)

The next oil painting is a reproduction (1970) of a painting done by Tomaso de Simone called “U.S.S. Constellation at Naples, Italy 1862”

Finally, “Return of the Clipper Ships” inspired by another painting called “Clipper Ships” by Alfred Gabali……

So why are these paintings treasures to me?

My grandfather painted them! He was born in 1899 and didn’t start painting until he had retired (in his late 60s). Pretty amazing! Now that he is gone, these paintings make me smile… and they are a reminder to me that it is never too late to follow your dreams!

  • “BTW, Twitter doesn't seem to be working... I might have the wrong settings. I dunno. It doesn't so anything. Any ideas??” from Really Rainey at The Project Table – I am going to assume you are talking about twitter picking up your blog feed (posts)…. To do that, you need to go to Twitterfeed (click on Twitterfeed and it will take you to site)..and feed your twitter!   • “Where did you find the white snowflakes (not the placemats)?” from tar devil of Confessions of a 40-Something Mama Queen- I also found them at the dollar store (4 in a package). I saw similar ones at Wal-mart.
  • “May I add the image to my blog, with a link to here? “ (talking about the Outdoor Wednesday logo link) from The Muse at A Diva’s Hammer…Wielded by the Muse- Yes, anyone may put the logo link on their sidebar. Thank you! The more who participate the merrier!

I enjoyed reading all the comments left by everyone. It is very humbling to get compliments from the bloggers whom I have admired for a long time and who are the inspiration behind me finally starting my very own blog!
