Held in Macon since 1851, this fair has a long tradition of family entertainment and is operated by the Exchange Club of Macon with volunteers giving more than 7000 hours each year to operate this annual event. Proceeds from the state fair are returned to the community in the form of support to local charities and community service programs.

ReplyDeleteI love the State Fair! I went to a Georgia one once on my way to Orlando. I have also been to a fair in Valdosta, but I don't remember which one... although I think it was named after a flower. Great post!
ReplyDeleteHI Susan,
ReplyDeleteOh this makes me yearn for a day at the fair. Ours isn't until September, right after school starts. I love spending the day looking at EVERY SINGLE THING!!! And of course eating some really good (bad for you) food.
Your fair must be early because it gets so hot where you are. I'd love a warm evening riding the ferris wheel. That sounds like heaven. Also, embarassing but true, one of my favorite movies of all times is "State Fair", I watch it every year at least twice.(and my girls and I know all the songs!!)...It's a grand night for singing....
Thanks for sharing these picutures - the sunset one is esp. pretty!
XO
Heidi - Heart and Home

ReplyDeleteHope to post with you in the not too distant future for Outdoor Wed. I have some night shots of St. Augustine that Fred took that are awesome. He took them with his cell phone.
XO,
Sheila :-)

The only reason I go to our state fair is for the free homemade biscuits and to see the arts and crafts exhibits- I am too scared to ride anything!Wonder how long it will be before a state fair is a thing of the past?
