We had a visitor in town last week….. a 14-foot alligator…glad he didn’t decided to stop by my house! Somebody might have wanted to keep him!

Don’t worry it was relocated to a Laurens Co. swamp by trappers and animal control officers.

  1. OMG SUSAN,
    That would freak me out!
Do they end up in people's yard or homes?
That is one creature I'm glad we don't have around here.

  2. Oh, the poor thing. I bet he was glad to get back to a place where he could be more comfortable. I guess you have to watch letting out small dogs and children, huh?

    ReplyDelete
  3. If I saw that in any yard, I would be moving on. That thing is huge and should have stayed in the water. Thankful it was not too near you.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Holy Moly... I'd be a tad unnerved to see an alligator in my yard too!

PS Thanks again for hosting Outdoor Wednesday!

  5. Susan, I accidentally entered the wrong one in #6. You can delete that one if you would please.

  6. I have worked animal control but am glad never to have received a call for that!

  7. Oh my goodness.....I am sure glad there are no alligators up in British Columbia... I think I will keep the Bears! LOL

  8. Yikes! That's a big one. Not so comforting to a mom who will have not one but TWO daughters living in Macon this fall. Watch your steps, girls....

    ReplyDelete
  9. That is one visitor I wouldn't have wanted to run into. Glad they caught him and found him a home.

  10. Those are fantastic photos! I love all the people standing by to watch. I lived in Naples, FL, during high school, and we had gators in our neighborhood pretty often, as we were so close to the Everglades. It was always fun to see the game warden come and catch them! Thanks for bringing back some good, but scary, memories.

  19. Wow, that is one scary looking fella! I would not be happy to find one of those in my yard. Of course it would be a little unusual since I live in CA. Anyway, glad they got him out of there and to a better place.
When I was very little we lived in Fla. and there are pics in the album of all us little kids standing around a gator that had been swimming in the channel behind our houses. Back then I think they just shot the poor guys, terrible, and then dragged them to shore. I'm glad we've improved how we handle them now. cool pics!!
Thanks for hosting us again this week.

It also wouldn't let me post on here. WEIRD.

Not sure what is going on with Blogger. It has had some issues lately.

I can't believe the size of that gator! I'm so happy he wasn't in your yard, and I'm glad they relocated him. Fourteen feet is HUGE!
It was fun to see that one big. Just glad he wasn't in my yard, either! ;-)

  23. Oh my Gosh.... he was a pretty big guy. Not a visitor I would feel much like welcoming to be sure! Poor guy was probably just as confused about being there as people were concerned about his presence! Glad they could relocate him back where he belonged!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh now, this visitor makes the rabbits that are eating my garden look really fun!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yikes! I am running the other way. No way I would have stuck around long enough for a blog photo:-) You are brave. We have gators here on HH island but not that big. Ok so now I will definitely be dreaming of those gators chasing me tonight:-)

  52. Thank you for hosting! That alligator is SCARY!! Not something I want to stumble across! Snakes are bad enough! Have a good day!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Susan, I wondered if the issues in the Gulf would bring some of the alligators more inland...your post just reminded me of that thought. That is one scary looking creature! Thank you for hosting...I think this might be my first time linking up, but not my first time stopping by.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Wow, that's one big alligator. We don't have those in Ohio. This is my first time linking up with your party. Thank you for hosting!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. At least it was outside and not in someone's kitchen (like the one in Florida).

Susan, I want to thank you for your kind words on the loss of my beloved dog, Sheldon. LIke you, I'm still not over it and everyday is still hard. Trying to get back into blogging, but miss my buddy by my side.

    ReplyDelete
  56. hat is humungos, I wouldn't dare near him lol. Have a nice day!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Wow, Susan. That alligator is awesome. Loved how everyone gathered and that seeing an alligator is not just something to take for granted.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Looks like he has a little wound on his jowls. A couple of weeks ago an alligator showed up at a school down here. I was disgusted to find out that instead of relocating it, they killed it. It was lost and had not harmed anyone. Glad to hear the one in your town was relocated.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Wow! I don't think anybody will beat this for an OW post. It can't happen too often that an alligator comes to town!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I see some very brave heros out there. What a big boy it was,

Years ago, my girlfriend rented a semi farm in the swamp. The owner breed crocodiles in fenced in sections. A giant flood came and all his crocs escape.

people blamed the crazy old man.

    ReplyDelete
