I was out running errands this week and decided to take a few pictures of the landscaping around the mall. I like to see what combinations the landscapers use to get ideas for my own yard. You never know where you might get some inspiration!

  2. I find my Dr's surgery gardens a great place to see what annuals work well locally year round...Plus their buildings and gardens have a great southern cottage feel to them which we are trying to achieve at our place.

  8. I remember seeing a landscaper on tv once who said you should always incorporate grasses into your yard for the motion effect. I like the way the mall used the grasses as a backdrop for the colorful flowers. Thanks for hosting.

  10. Hi Susan,

I do that too( taking pictures of plants in public places)...usually the plants they use in commercial spaces aren't too fussy and can take a lot of heat near pavement. This year with our drought and high temps I really noticed the plants that survived the best. Will be planting them next year! Thanks for sharing and hosting!

  11. Love all the colors of local mall's landscaping! Sometimes I think fall is prettier than spring... but maybe it is because we are going to miss it all winter and so we appreciate it more now!
    Thanks for hosting!

  19. Good morning Susan, I too love to get inspiration from gardens I see where ever I might be. Also from books on landscape and gardening. I am the President of The Franklin Garden Club here where I live. I love to be involved with gardening in my club. Your photos are all inspiring.

  23. Excellent idea! Here in Central Ohio, you can take a cue from landscapers who use SUPER hardy plantings that give season long appeal. Lots of Knock Out Roses, Day Lilies that seem to bloom forever and Salvia are especially popular (zone 5).
