It’s too hot here to stay outside for long today. It is 98 degrees with a heat index of 108. I think I am ready for fall (almost). I went out and took some pictures of the crape myrtle blooming in my area. They seem to not mind the heat too much!

Your neighborhood is filled with beautiful flowering trees. I have 3 of the bushes. I have to keep them trimmed back each year, I believe I might have seen a bloom or two the other night. Like you all it is HOT here. Right now temps are in the 100's. Not much outside activity going on. Thanks for hosting each week. hugs ~lynne~

ReplyDeleteWe also have crape myrtles, i just posted before this our tall crape myrtles which are endemic in these country, maybe the parents of your hybrid crape myrtles. But those white ones are so beautiful, we dont have that yet.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful crepe myrtles. I love all the colors! Our weather here is glorious right now. Mid 70's with a light breeze but I can really sympathize with you. I was on the east coast for a little over two weeks and the heat and humidity were insane! My daughter said it's gotten even warmer since I left. Stay indoors and try try to stay cool!

ReplyDeleteHi Susan, The crepe myrtle is so pretty. this is the first home we have lived in that didn't have a crepe myrtle. Time to get shopping for some. I think purple is my fave because it reminds one of lilacs.Your photos around your neighborhood are lovely.

Your trees are beautiful! I wish I could figure out why mine do not bloom. Do you fertilize them? If so what do you use and when? Do you prune all of yours. One looks too tall. Mine are basically trees and you can not prune but I see plenty of other trees that bloom. It is strange. Hope someone out there has a suggestion for me.

Crepe myrtle trees don't seem to mind the heat at all. Our neighborhood is full of beautiful color provided by these avid bloomers. Makes me want to plant one in our yard.
