It’s too hot here to stay outside for long today. It is 98 degrees with a heat index of 108. I think I am ready for fall (almost). I went out and took some pictures of the crape myrtle blooming in my area. They seem to not mind the heat too much!

Oops! My title is wrong...Oh well.
ReplyDeleteYour crepe myrtle aren't wrong. They are gorgeous.
Your neighborhood is filled with beautiful flowering trees. I have 3 of the bushes. I have to keep them trimmed back each year, I believe I might have seen a bloom or two the other night. Like you all it is HOT here. Right now temps are in the 100's. Not much outside activity going on. Thanks for hosting each week. hugs ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteAll your flowering trees are beautiful. Makes me think about going out. But I think if I do it will be to jump in the lake! It's 90 and plenty hot to be int he water. Blessings, Debbie
ReplyDeleteSusan, Your white crape myrtle in front of your home are so pretty. I have whites too in my front. I love the pinks in your neighborhood too and next time I plant crape myrtles I want the pinks. I love that CM can take our triple digit temps. Thanks for hosting your lovely meme each week.

Love your crape myrtles! They don't grow in the north and I miss them from my days of living in Maryland. Thank you so much for sharing them.

Susan,
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting! The crepe myrtle look beautiful in spite of the heat!
Just lovely.
I don't think all the entries show up - after #26 they are all cut off of the right margin...
ReplyDeleteThe crepe myrtles seem to thrive here in the heat too! They are one of the few things.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting.
I can't imagine heat like that! But your beautiful trees don't seem to mind. They're so pretty! Thanks for hosting and stay cool!
ReplyDelete~Lynn
Thank goodness for crape myrtles for adding magnificent color to hot summer days.
ReplyDeleteWe also have crape myrtles, i just posted before this our tall crape myrtles which are endemic in these country, maybe the parents of your hybrid crape myrtles. But those white ones are so beautiful, we dont have that yet.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful crepe myrtles. I love all the colors! Our weather here is glorious right now. Mid 70's with a light breeze but I can really sympathize with you. I was on the east coast for a little over two weeks and the heat and humidity were insane! My daughter said it's gotten even warmer since I left. Stay indoors and try try to stay cool!

LOVE those Crape Myrtles!!!
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous. They do like heat, and don't do as well in our cool Pacific Northwest. Oh well, you can ripen tomatoes really well in that heat!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. Love the crape myrtles.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful home and flowers! It is way too hot here in Georgia! Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I've ever seen a crape myrtle in person, but I know what to look for now.. so pretty!! Stay cool from the heat and thank you for hosting this fun get together!

Its very hot and humid here too...lovely blooming trees you have there!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing crepe myrtle! In Kansas, they die down to the ground each year, then come back, so we never get the huge ones you have in the South. Thanks for hosting today.
ReplyDeleteLovely crepe myrtles.
ReplyDeleteRosie
Oh gorgeous crape myrtles! We can't grow them here in NJ -- JEALOUS!
ReplyDeleteCass
The pics are so pretty! They are gorgeous trees when they are in bloom.
ReplyDeleteAmazing flower trees, which don't exist here in Finland so they are also very exotic to me.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan, The crepe myrtle is so pretty. this is the first home we have lived in that didn't have a crepe myrtle. Time to get shopping for some. I think purple is my fave because it reminds one of lilacs.Your photos around your neighborhood are lovely.
ReplyDeleteHappy Outdoors to you and yours,
Hugs, Jeanne
Your trees are beautiful! I wish I could figure out why mine do not bloom. Do you fertilize them? If so what do you use and when? Do you prune all of yours. One looks too tall. Mine are basically trees and you can not prune but I see plenty of other trees that bloom. It is strange. Hope someone out there has a suggestion for me.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Crepe Myrtle! We have Butterfly Bush which I believe are in the same plant family. So lovely!
ReplyDeleteDeanna
My crape myrtle trees look the best they've looked in years. Go figure! I guess they don't mind baking in the heat - unlike us. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting, Susan.

Crepe myrtle trees don't seem to mind the heat at all. Our neighborhood is full of beautiful color provided by these avid bloomers. Makes me want to plant one in our yard.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting. ~ Sarah
Crepe's really are a part of the backbone of Southern gardening. Thanks for hosting OW!
