No neighborhood in Macon revels in Halloween more than the area around Ridge Avenue. It has been estimated that roughly 2,000 children go through the Ridge Avenue area to trick-or-treat each year, and residents give out about 150 pounds of candy. (I am glad this is NOT my neighborhood!)

Most of the neighbors don’t mind the large crowds, so long as it is kids doing the trick-or-treating and not teens or adults seeking free handouts of candy.

    That bit about teens kind of bugs me. I didn't really trick or treat as a teen, but I took my younger sibs. Now they are in their teens and they still enjoy trick or treating. I would much rather have them out with families, trick or treating than getting into other mischief-- which is exactly what is going to happen when homes have attitude or turn them away for being too old to trick or treat.

    This looked like a lot of fun! I would love to be in a neighborhood like that...we live at the end of a very long cul de sac...we had all of 9 trick or treaters...so disappointing.

    That looks like everyone was having a good time but I'm like you and so glad it wasn't my neighborhood. Loved the pictures they were so bright and colorful.

    Since we live in the country we were lucky to get one little boy dressed as "Wall E" (so cute). I can't believe that line! I think I am happy with just that one.

    I don't mind teens, but the adults who come by themselves or with other adults... Let them buy their own. :-)

    That is an amazing amount of candy and children, Susan! I thought my neighborhood was hectic on Halloween! I usually give out around 300 pieces of candy in two hours. This year was quieter for some reason ..maybe because it was a Sunday?

    Looks like a lot of fun......my neighbourhood also has lots of kids. We had enough candy for about 250 kids and then ran out. But ours all come out in the evening when it is dark, never in the daytime. Thanks for sharing.

    I used to live in a neighborhood like that where car loads came from other neighborhoods...I think that since churches have started the alternative events, it has reduced the number of children who go out...I had 12 this year, some were older than I like to see...I was disappointed that I didn't have the little guys, I always enjoy seeing them.

    What a generous neighborhood! That's what I loved about Macon (I went to Mercer)...generous, friendly people. I do have to say, though, 150 pounds of candy is A LOT!!!
