Over the last few weeks I have noticed quite a few international visitors to my site….mostly for Outdoor Wednesday (I think)……
I thought it would be nice to “accommodate” my non-English speaking/reading visitors by adding a translator (gadget) to my blog page….. to show them a little “Southern hospitality”.
I thought I would share how I did it in case others wanted to do the same but weren’t sure how to do it.
If you go to Google Translate, you will see this……
You want to copy and paste the HTML (gray box)…..
Now go to your blog and select “Customize” from top right corner…… and you should see the layout page for your blog. Select “add a gadget” and then select “HTML/Javascript”
And a box will pop up. Paste the HTML you copied from the Google Translate page into the box…….
AND THEN HIT SAVE (don’t forget to save!). Once saved, you can move it where you want it to appear on your page. Easy, huh?

ReplyDeleteI love your tutorials! Thanks for this info!
Great info...I just may have to add this. Thanks for the steps. :-)
ReplyDeleteWow Susan, that is so nice of you to accomodate these overseas bloggers! I'm still trying to get English speaking bloggers and here you are having international visitors!!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHow nice to know. Thanks for the tutorial. Love it. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI can't tell if I do or don't, but this is such a thoughtful, helpful post, and I'm definitely adding the translator.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think of the Gibbons dishes? Aren't the dinner plates humongous?
That is a charming gesture Susan . On the other hand I think most people speak English as we learn it at school, at least in our country. Most of us can read it but writing might be more difficult.
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan. I may add this to my blog. I have not had an international come to my blog recently (except for Baptist Missionaries serving abroad), but I have had a few and wondered about having a translator. It would have been nice if they had a translator when I when to their blog. So I know the reverse would be true.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info! I have had a couple and not only did they have a problem but I also had a problem when I tried to visit their blog. You always display southern hospitality! Thanks! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lesson. I don't think I have any international visitors. Like the above poster said, I'm still trying to get English speaking bloggers.
ReplyDeleteWendy :)
I wondered how you did that! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThis is very helpful, Susan! Thanks. I've been wanting to make sure my page was accessible to those who don't read English and I've had trouble figuring it out.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, Susan. I just added it to my sidebar.
ReplyDeleteExcellent idea! I will add it to my sidebar.
ReplyDeleteI have noticed it also, especially since I joined Skywatch Friday, thanks for the lesson
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this information. I do have some international visitors and followers. So far it has not been an issue as they speak English and/or have a translator on their blog. I will print your tutorial and get it set up on my blog. Thanks, Glenda
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool. I changed it to Spanish and of course just read it perfectly....not!

I've seen those translators before. It shows your sweetness for you to think of non-English speaking people that visit you! ♥
ReplyDeleteSusan-- you are such a clever Southern gal! Thanks so much for the info. Fascinating. We live in a wonderful world.

ReplyDeleteSusan,
ReplyDeleteI put a translator box on a couple days ago, because I noticed how many international visitors come to my site. I have talked about my experience living overseas, which I believe have attracted these guests. I welcome diversity, and know I appreciated someone took the time to help me when I struggled with a language in a foreign land. ~Cathy~
Susan,
ReplyDeleteI want to add one more thing to my post above. I always write someone who becomes a follower to my blog, to say hello. If they are international I start with WELCOME in their language. It is easy to do a quick search on Google, to see how it is written. ~Cathy~
