We were recently in Sandersville, Georgia and I took some pictures of the kaolin. Sandersville is known as the “Kaolin Capital of the World.” One of Georgia’s most important minerals, kaolin is a white, alumina-silicate clay used in hundreds of products ranging from paper to cosmetics to the nose cones of rockets. Kaolin is also used in medicines, paints and many other products.

  4. One of our favorite outings, when I attended college in Macon, GA, was to the Kaolin pits to swim. The water was so blue...and soft! Our skin felt wonderful when we got out. It was such a treat!
