Today is Blue Monday hosted by Smiling Sally. Don’t forget to visit her site to see more participants!
Today is President’s Day…. Until 1971, both February 12 and February 22 were observed as federal public holidays to honor the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln (February 12) and George Washington (February 22). In 1971 President Richard Nixon proclaimed one single federal public holiday, the Presidents' Day, to be observed on the 3rd Monday of February, honoring all past presidents of the United States of America.
Here are some blues for President’s day!
George Washington (painting 1782)…….
and the Washington Monument…….
and Abraham Lincoln…….
and the Lincoln Memorial…..
Thanks for stopping by my blog…. Have a great day!

ReplyDeleteHappy B Monday, Candy
Wonderful Blue Monday post, Susan!!
ReplyDeleteI like the painting of George. His head is a bit small for the rest of his body; it looks like it was painted separately. And his body, for all that looks proud, seems to have a bit of tummy bulge?
ReplyDeleteHonest Abe looks more real.
Happy President's Day and Blue Monday.
Nice collection of tributes here. I can never keep track of President's Day now that it doesn't fall on either birthday... should have been easy to remember this year since today's my mom's birthday but ...
ReplyDeleteLove this beautiful blue tribute to our presidents....Happy Monday to you!

ReplyDeleteThis is a great posts. Love all the presidential monuments and pictures!
Happy President's Day, Susan!! And to all American bloggers out there :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's Family Day here today (Ontario). Somebody finally realized that when you have winter lasting from November to April, and there's not a single holiday between New Year's Day and Easter, people REALLY NEED a day off!! And so Family Day was created :-)
Hey, whatever the reason, a Monday off is a good thing :-)
Enjoy everyone!!
Susan, don't be afraid -- go get those chairs and start recovering!! :-)

This is great! Love all the photos. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful post,love the monuments.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering when the switch was made. I can remember having both days off from school when I was a kid. The switch was made while I was still in school. Now I don't get the day off at all. It is not one of our paid holidays in the medical field. At least not with the company I am with right now. As far as medicare is concerned, not a holiday. So off to work I go. Darn. Thank you for visiting me today. Happy Blue Monday and President's Day!
ReplyDeleteVery patriotic.Thank you for reminding me...Ann
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your combo Blue Monday/Presidents Day post :)

ReplyDeleteYour pictures are wonderful and so are the paintings. I have been to both the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument. That in itself is a lovely area.
This is Family Day in Ontario. This is the 2nd year since they passed the day. There are all kinds of family activities open for this special day.
I hope yours is a good one.
Judi
Happy Presidents Day and Blue Monday. I kinda liked it better when we had Lincoln's and Washington's birthdays. Maybe that's how it was when I was growing up.

I plant more ever year and buy them in the supermarket all the time. Blogger would not let me comment on that post for some reason, must be glitching.
